Nasal Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

Rhinoplasty is one of the most often-sought plastic surgery procedures. The procedure can help give your face a pleasing, natural balance.

Procedure:

The surgery usually takes an hour or two on an outpatient basis. It consists of reshaping the cartilage and bone of the nose and allowing the skin to redrape over the new frame. Your surgery will be as individual as you are. You and your surgeon will decide on how your nose will be shaped. It can be reshaped in many ways including:
    - Reduce or increase the size
    - Change the shape of the tip or the bridge
    - Narrow the span of the nostrils
    - Change the angle between your nose and your upper lip
    - Correct a birth defect or injury

Incisions are usually made within the nostrils so there are no visible scars. Certain procedures will require and "open" procedure where incisions will be placed at the base of the nostrils. The scars for this procedure are well concealed and minimal.

Recovery:

The first twenty-four hours your face will probably feel puffy and ache. Pain medication can control any discomfort. Plan on resting with your head elevated for the first day. The next few days will comprise of some bruising and swelling. You can apply a cold compress to reduce this. Most of the bruising and swelling will be gone within one weeks. You will probably be back to work in a week or so after surgery, but results will continue to improve for about one year.

Result:

Subtle changes in the shape of your nose can greatly improve the balance and harmony of your face. You may look younger, thinner, or more elegant depending upon the changes you request.
